Ash
Hi! My name is Ash (they/them), and I’m a History and Politics student, originally from Germany, but I now consider Edinburgh my home. I’m super excited to spend my summer interning for IASH’s Institute Project on Decoloniality! Since coming to university, I have been interested in decolonial, queer and feminist approaches to politics, historical research, or debates around international development. I have especially been researching the ties of universities and teaching institutions to imperialism, as well as the connections between homophobia/transphobia and coloniality, which is what drew me to this internship. During my time at university, I have also just finished my first term as LGBTQ+ Liberation Officer, and the National Student Committee for Amnesty International, and I’m excited to see the ways in which these roles will overlap with my work here. I’m looking forward to collaborating with all the amazing Fellows in IASH, as well as GENDER.ED and RACE.ED on events, their valuable work on decolonising the university, and new projects.
Mouna
Hello! My name is Mouna (she/her), and I’m excited to introduce myself as GENDER.ED’s new communications and events intern. In September, I will be entering my fourth and final year of my undergraduate degree, studying Sociology and Politics. I am particularly interested in decolonial and intersectional feminist theory, as well as studies of migration, and racialization - especially in the Nordics. I am very much looking forward to working with the GENDER.ED and RACE.ED teams, as well as the IASH Fellows, to contribute to and get an insight into their invaluable work across the university. Amongst other things, I will be assisting with the collation of the latest book from the Dangerous Women Project.
