Hello, we’re Lucien and Shy, and we are this summer’s IASH interns under the University’s Employ.ed on Campus Internship Scheme. We’re looking forward to supporting and contributing to the exciting work being done at IASH, RACE.ED, and genderED over the coming twelve weeks.
Lucien will be working as the Communications and Events Intern for IASH and RACE.ED, helping develop the Institute Project on Decoloniality website and promoting diverse research and teaching around race and decolonial studies at the university. He has just completed his third year of Physical Geography and, having worked with the BlackED Movement, is keen to further his passion for decolonisation and social justice on campus. He is excited to help plan and host events for both IASH and RACE.ED and hopes that he can expand his knowledge on race, inequality and decolonisation through this internship.
Shy has just finished her third year studying Law and will be taking on the role of Communications and Events Intern with IASH and genderED. She will be assisting with the launch and promotion of the Dangerous Women books, including the recently published The Art of Being Dangerous. She will also be assisting with the planning and delivery of events, while working towards "bringing to life" the resources and outputs produced by IASH and genderED. Shy is deeply interested in the connection between gender and punishment and hopes that through this internship she will encounter new interdisciplinary approaches to research that she can adopt in her own future research.
